2022 April - Watch List
This month I caught a ton of projects including new masterpieces and old gems.
Five Quick Notes:
THE BATMAN is an enigma of a film to me. It is fantastic, well constructed, and artistically beautiful. At the same time, it is extraordinarily superfluous in an attempted service of capital C-inema. From almost the first sequence, my mind was twisted. After it finished, I wanted to and did watch it again immediately. It will sit for me for a while.
HEIST is a classic modern noir that influenced me since childhood. I was happy to catch it on Netflix.
MISS SLOANE made me long for my days working in D.C. and the excitement of the bloodsport known as politics.
POLICE STORY is an absolute masterpiece. I always enjoyed Jackie Chan but never fully understood his brilliance as a performer and director.
TOKYO VICE is a solid television show. Check it out.
